Anna Chaka Peters

Anna Chaka was born in Tabor, Czechoslovakia, August 4, 1852. She was united in marriage to Frank Peters in 1872. They immigrated to America and settled on a homestead located in Farmington Township, Republic County, Kansas. Coming to Kansas in the pioneer days, she with her husband endured many of the hardships of the frontier life.

Her husband preceded her in death September 19, 1910; since then she has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Charles Novak, northwest of Cuba. After a prolonged illness, she passes away April 21, 1931, at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 17 days.

She was a kind and loving mother, always having a smile for everyone and making many friends wherever she went. Her one delight was in her home with her children and her greatest desire was to bring them up in the right way. She was also deeply concerned about the welfare of her grandchildren.

She leaves to mourn her loss three sons, Joseph, John and Elmer, all of Cuba; and two daughter, Mrs. Charles Novak of Cuba and Mrs. Anton Rytych of Munden; twenty grandchildren, seven great-grand children and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Charles Novak Home on Thursday afternoon, April 23, 1931. The services were conducted by the Rev. Amos Rundus and interment was made in the Tabor cemetery.
