TURNER Services for James Weldon "Dutch" Hicks, 82, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Freeman Auditorium at Turner School with the Revs. Roy Vinson and Dennis Lopez officiating. Interment will be at Leon Cemetery, Leon.

Born on Jan. 21, 1926, in Jimtown, Okla. to James A. and Beula Faye Gipson Hicks, he died Feb. 5, 2008, at the Marietta hospital. He was preceded in death by his parent; son, Ronnie Hicks; brothers, Myron Hicks and Thurston Hicks.

A lifetime resident of Jimtown, he was a farmer/rancher who enjoyed fishing and farming, taking pride in planting the straightest peanut rows. A licensed pilot, he had his own plane and enjoyed flying. He loved socializing, never met a stranger and was a member of Jimtown Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to church and loved spend time with family and friends.

He and Juanita "Skeet" Haynes were married on June 8,1946, in Gainesville, texas.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Jim Householder, Jimtown, Cindy and Jeff McGee, Wynnewood; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Shirley Hicks, Marietta; three grandchildren, Melanie Whaley and husband, Tim, Dickson, Chris Householder and wife, Chris, Dickson, Shanna Blankenship and husband, J.W., Mustang; eight great-grandchildren, Michael Ellis, Ashli Ellis, Robert Ellis, Kendall Ellis, Jordan Longoria, Cassie Longoria, Justin Whaley, Kristen Oxley and husband, Andy; three great-great-grandchildren, Charissa Ellis, Skyler Ellis and Landri Oxley; special extended family, Tim and Mary Ellen Johnston, Jimtown and their son, Jeff Johnston and wife Courtney.

Bearers are Chris Householder, Jimmy Householder, Jeff McGee, Tim Whaley, J.W. Blankenship and Tim Johnston
