Mrs. Catherine Barbara Gerhardt, 93, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter and stepson, Mr. and Mrs. John Gerhardt Sr. of 131 Woodruff.
She was born Nov. 3, 1861 in Russia, and came to the United States and Topeka 32 years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar Society.
She is survived by three sons, John Gerling and Andrew Gerling, both of Detroit, Mich., and Joseph Gerling of Argentina, South America; a daughter Mrs. Magdalena Gerhardt of the home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Magdalen Holman of Chicago; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
