James "Jim" Walter Bergen, son of the late Walter Bergen and Rose (Olsen) Bergen, was born in Canistota, South Dakota, on August 4, 1935. He departed this life at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on December 16, 2021, at the age of 86.

On November 25, 1959, in Salem, Missouri, Jim was united in marriage to Bernetta Sue Brooks and to this union three children were born. Bernetta preceded him in death on August 16, 2020. Jim was a Veteran of the United States Army. He attended Crossville Baptist Church and Love of God Ministries. Jim was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He loved to travel, play solitaire on the computer and piddling on just about anything.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Scotti Mitchell, two brothers, Norman and Lowell "Buddy" Bergen, five sisters, Bessie Harvey, Evelyn Woods, Virginia Heally, Frances Hutton and Goldie Colesse, and one grandchild.

Jim is survived by one son, Jamie Christopher Bergen and companion Debbie of Bunker, Missouri, one daughter, Linda Ritter and husband Mel of Bunker, Missouri, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Jim will be deeply missed by a host of relatives and many friends who will mourn his passing.

There will be a Memorial Service held at the Bay Cemetery on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 3PM
