Virginia Leona (Bergen) Healy, also known as 'Toby', age 82 of Montrose died peacefully Sunday, March 30th at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. Toby was born on February 12th, 1926 to Walter and Rose (Olsen) Bergen. She grew up in Canistota where she graduated from Canistota High School in 1946. She married Vincent (Vinnie) Healy on December 30th, 1946 at St. Patrick´s Catholic Church in Montrose. They lived on the Healy homestead until 1992 when they moved into Montrose. Toby was a member of the St. Patrick´s Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, and NFO Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing as a member of the Swingster´s Square Dance Club for thirty years and most of all ballroom dancing with her beloved husband, Vinnie. Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Dan Healy of Mission, TX, and six daughters Bobbie/Barb, (Tom) Spicer of Canistota, Snookie/Beverly, (Mike) Schoepf of Albert Lea, MN, Bonnie Bembers of Sioux Falls, Deanna Peterson of Montrose, Karen (Dan) Streff of Salem, and Amy (Lance) De Young of Tea; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; one sister, Goldie (Gerhard) Callies of Howard and two brothers Bud/Lowell, (Doris) Bergen and Jimmy (Bert) Bergen; a brother-in-law Bus/Urban, (Mary Catherine) Healy of Montrose; three sisters-in-law Mary (Gene) of Kearns, UT, Ceal (Bud) Healy and Mary (Robert) Healy, both of Montrose; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Rose Bergen, one brother, Norman, and three sisters Evelyn, Bessie, and Frances. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 3 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. It will resume at 6:00 pm with a 7:15 rosary and 7:30 prayer service at St. Patrick´s Catholic Church in Montrose. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am on Friday at St. Patrick´s.
