Funeral Services were held Friday, August 9, 2002 at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev Donald Boeschen officiating. Burial was in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
George was born July 9, 1910 in Sutton, Nebraska to Alexander and Katherine (Bender) Idt. He attended Sutton High School and graduated in 1929.
He married Ruth Thurin in Omaha, Nebraska on July 5, 1940.
George was employed at the Paris Cafe in Sutton. Schwendt Cafe in Clay Center, Evans Ice Cream Company in Omaha, Maxon Construction Company, Naval Ammunition Deport and at Carmichael Construction Company in Hastings for 35 years retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Ruth of Hastings; one daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Kenneth Swenson of Mercer Island, WA, two sons and daughters-in-laws Gary and Karen Idt, Yankton, SD and Gerald and Mary Idt of Lincoln; one brother John Idt of Kerryville, TX; one sister Jean Prestin of Mesa, TX; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church.
