Alphonse was born and raised in Goff, Kansas and the surrounding areas. He was one of 10 children born to Henry Niehues and Josephine Schultejans. He came to California on his own by train at the age of 16 to work for his older brother Joseph Niehues on his dairy in Orland,Ca. He met the love of his life and married Loutinea Leonardo January 20, 1950 in Willows, California. They brought 8 children into the world. Allen,Donna,Anthony,Barbara,Lynette,Gregory,Michael and John. He worked most of his life in the dairy business and rice farming for Jones' in Bayliss. When he passed from lung cancer on Thanksgiving morning 1984, he also had 8 grandchildren. He was a happy and fun loving person who loved his family very much. He was well liked and well known around Glenn County.
