Leo Joseph Niehues Sr., 35-year resident of Woodland, Calif., formerly of Red Wing, Minn., died at home on May 2.
Leo Joseph Niehues Sr., 35-year resident of Woodland, Calif., formerly of Red Wing, Minn., died at home on May 2.
He was born July, 14, 1930, in Goff, Kansas, to Henry and Josephine Niehues. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a millwright for 40 years and had worked in Red Wing as a contractor for ADM.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks Club, Millwright Union Local 102, and the Holy Rosary Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joye; daughters, Tammy (Tom) Hughes of Hager City, Wis., Lori (Mark) Schneider of Prescott, Wis.; sons, Leo (Mary) of Red Wing, Perry (Carole Brooks) of Winters, Calif.; sisters, Anna and Veronica; brothers Paul and Louis (his twin); 11 grandchildren, Kristen, Kyle, Ross, Rochelle, Cody, Jenna, Andrew, Scott, Michael, Megan, and Madeline; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Logan, and Miles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Holy Rosary Church, Woodland, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Woodland. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, with Rosary at 7 p.m., at McNary's Funeral Chapel, Woodland.
