Marcel was born on April 39, 1932 in Spring Lake, Florida, to James and Agnes Mountain. A farm boy, he grew up in the citrus groves of Hernando County and went on to major in agricultural chemistry at the University of Florida. Although he farmed citrus his entire life, it was his 43 year career in forestry products that took Marcel all over the world.

Marcel became a leader in every community in which he lived. He resided in Antioch, CA for 30 years where he was a member of Rotary Club, served on the local hospital board and was active in the Methodist church. It was in Antioch that Marcel began his career at the Fibreboard Corporation as a low-level supervisor, eventually rising to the position of president of the company.

When Fibreboard was purchased by Louisiana-Pacific, he soon became a Division Manager supervising operations stretching from Seward, AK to Tuscon, AZ. In 1990, LP assigned Marcel the task of designing and constructing an innovative paper mill in British Columbia that incorporated cutting-edge, environmentally friendly technologies.

Marcel was a shrewd negotiator and was respected for his honesty and integrity. He was also a person of great faith, and acts of kindness. Both he and his wife of sixty years, Olene, attended Christian camp as children and believed it was important for any child who desired to have that opportunity. Consequently, they sponsored children every summer to attend camp.

Marcel loved bringing friends and family together. He and Olene hosted many gatherings at their home in Spring Lake and entertained guests regularly at their homes in Hawaii and California.

Marcel liked driving his tractor, kayaking in the ocean, deep-sea fishing and taking daily walks. When he retired to Florida, he began to play golf regularly with his childhood friend, George Lee. Above all, he loved keeping a garden, eating the fruits of his labor and sharing his bounty with others.

Marcel is survived by his devoted wife, Olene; his mother, Mrs. Agnes (Mountain) Perkins; and his children, Charles and his wife, Ilene; Sandra and her husband, Dan; and Thomas and his wife, Lynn.

He and Olene have 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Marcel is also survived by his siblings Marvin, Annette, Ollie and George.

Visitation is Sunday, April 21st, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Brooksville Chapel of Turner Funeral Homes. Memorial Service on Monday, April 22nd at 11:00 AM in the Spring Lake United Methodist Church.

It was Marcel's wish that donations be made to HPH hospice in lieu of flowers.
