Heinrich Kroeger "Henry Kreger" was born 15 March 1777 in Germany and his wife Catharina Elisabeth Von Hoene "Elizabeth" was born 24 May 1779, daughter of
Johann Henrich Von Hoen and Christina Hekmanns. They lived the Neuenkirchen area near Damme, Germany. They had four sons that came to America before them, Henry, Fred, Barney and Dietrich. The four sons earned the money and sent it to their parents to help them come to the United States with the rest of their family.
In 1836 they traveled with the rest of their family to the United States,it was a fifty-four day voyage landing in Baltimore, where they purchased wagon teams and went on to Somerset County, Pennsylvania, where there other four son's already lived.
Henry and Elizabeth had eleven children Henry, who died as an infant in Germany, Elizabeth married to Henry Coleman, Frederick married to Anna Struckoff, Henry married to Elizabeth Seafringhouse, Barney married to Katherine Leary, Mary married to Garrett Fosbrink, Elizabeth married to John Lucas, Katherine married to Dietrich Uphouse, John married to Mary Shope, Dietrich
married to Sarah Shawley the only child to leave Somerset and went to Kansas, Anna married to Henry Hofelt.
Many people came from the same area in Germany, because they could not make the money to support their families living in Germany. So they knew some of the other people that also settled in the Somerset area from Germany before they came to America. They lived in Somerset until they died, surrounded by a very large family and many friends.
