In infancy, he received the Sacrament of Baptism in Salem Lutheran Church, Superior, Nebraska. Here, too, on November 30, 1919, he reaffirmed his faith in the rite of confirmation.
All his life, with the exception of two years which he spent in Western Nebraska, he lived in Nuckolls County where he engaged in farming. He continued to farm until the time of his death.
On May 28, 1934, he was united in marriage with Lillian E. Hickstein of Nelson, Nebraska. Three daughters were born to this union: Shirly Lee (Mrs. James Matousek) of Denver, Colorado; Bonnie Jean (Mrs. Lars Pedersen) of Hardy, Nebraska; and Patricia Ann (Mrs. James Etherton) of Lincoln, Nebraska.
A man of varied interests, he was a good neighbor always ready to help another. He enjoyed music and was of a cheerful disposition.
His home and family were precious to him and he was a kind and loving husband and father.
He was preceeded (sic) in death by his parents; one sister, Mrs. Frieda Grummert; and three brothers, Herman, Harry and William.
Walter Fredrick Warneking departed this life June 26, 1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska, having attained the age of 59 years, 11 months and 29 days.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to morn (sic) his passing, two brothers: Fred of Superior, Nebraska; and Emil of Deshler, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren; 35 nieces and nephews and many friends and acquaintances.
Faithful to his church and to his Savior, he was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church, Superior, Nebraska, since early in the congregation's history. Services were Wednesday, June 29, 1966, at the Centennial Lutheran Church, Superior. Rev. Robert J. Leege in charge, burial was in Salem Lutheran cemetery (sic), Superior.
