Ruth Crispin, the daughter of Lars and Leta Bernice (McKinney) Pedersen, was born on March 31, 1925, on a farm near Hardy, Nebraska. She passed away on January 4, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 4 days.

Ruth was one of nine children. Her parents bought land 5 ½ miles north of Hardy and a new home was built by her dad and the Summers brothers of Hardy.

She attended grade school at Beach School which was 1 ½ miles northwest of the farm and Hardy High School in Hardy, Nebraska.

In the 30's, Ruth helped many neighbors in their homes with daily chores. After WW II, on February 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ivan Shotzman at Mankato, Kansas. To this union three children were born. Ivan worked for Ideal Cement Company of Superior.

He preceded her in death. After Ivan passed away she married Dwayne Crispin, a farmer of Webber, Kansas on December 19, 1973 at Mankato, Kansas. In 1988 failing health took them to Hastings to be close to his Doctor. He passed away in 1989 of cancer.

Ruth had spent all her life on the farm, being a mother and homemaker. She liked the outdoors, gardening, playing ball, and going to the car races. She was always up for a game of cards. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years and also a cub scout leader. When she moved to the Good Samaritan Village she volunteered a lot of her time to helping other residents.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ivan, on September 4, 1972; and Dwayne, September 28, 1989; two brothers, Max and Lloyd Pedersen and one sister,
Marie Nelson.

Survivors include her children, Lana O'Neill and husband Tim of Hastings, Nebraska, Vonia Hansen and husband Lee of Superior, Nebraska and Van Shotzman and wife Lori of Idaho Falls, Idaho; five grandchildren, T.J.
