Leta Bernice Pedersen, born June 10, 1901, on a farm south of Nora, Nebraska, died November 3, 1985, at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 24 days, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior, Nebraska.

Leta was the daughter of Jesse and Abbigail Daugherty McKinney. She received her education in the Nora schools.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Ruskin.

Leta was married to Lars Pedersen June 1, 1921, at her parents home. To this marriage nine children were born.

Leta had resided on a farm north of Hardy, Nebraska, at the Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, Nebraska, and at the Good Samaritan Center, Superior, Nebraska.

Leta was a member of the Veterans of WWI Auxiliary Barracks #2275 at the time of her death.

Leta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lars, and one sister Cora Rogers.

She is survived by nine children: Gene Pedersen and his wife Margaret, Phoenix, Arizona, Alberta Bagley, Republic, Kansas, Ruth Crispin and her husband Dwayne, Webber, Kansas, Marie Nelson, Minden, Nebraska, Victor Pedersen and his wife Lorraine, Superior, Nebraska, Lars Pedersen and his wife Bonnie, Hardy, Nebraska, Max Pedersen and his wife Betty, Lakewood, Colorado, Lloyd Pedersen and his wife Florence, LaCrescenta, California, Rex Pedersen and his wife Luz, Hawthorne, California, 29 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, her sisters Constance Vanderford of Springfield, Nebraska, Lucille Gilliland of Papillion, Nebraska and Gladys Knowels of Artesia, New Mexico, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 6, 1985, at 2:30 p.m. from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska, with Pastor John Plowman officiating. Music was provided by Hartley Petersen, soloist, singing "Beyond The Sunset" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" with Hildegarde Hansen as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Gene Pedersen, Lars Pedersen, III, Van Shotzman, Augie Nelson, Ray Nelson, Gary Pedersen, Harold Pedersen, Scott Pedersen, Danny Pedersen, David Pedersen, Mike Pedersen, Clark Pedersen and Eric Pedersen. Burial was in the Springcreek (sic) Cemetery near Ruskin. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
