Son of Bill and Onie Mewes, Armond never married. He lived on the family farm located in Shelby Precinct on the Little Wabash River all his life. He continued to live there with his sister Wilma and her husband Andy Andersen when they moved back to the family farm after Bill and Onie died. Armond was a veteran of World War II and fought in Italy & Africa.
