Mabel Carlson lived, with her mother, on Michigan "Swede" Avenue in Hobart. She was the Treasurer of the Swedish M.E. Church for many years. Mabel never married. She could write excellent Swedish, and a packet of her letters to the Swedish family was found at a relative's home, in Katrineholm, Sweden, many years later.
Each summer, Mabel and her mother, Ida, would travel together by train for a lengthy visit with Ethel, Bert, & Carl Selin. The local newspaper often noted their 3-week trips to California, Kansas, and Iowa.
Mabel moved into Chicago, living with her sister Ethel, when their mother's condition deteriorated. Mabel continued to live with Ethel and Bert Selin, in Chicago.
