Death of Axel Carlson
After an illness covering several months, Axel Carlson died at his home
on Michigan avenue last Tuesday, July 22, aged 54 years, 2 months and 9
days.
He was born in Sweden, May 13, 1859, and came to this country in 1880
locating at Chesterton where he found employment in the brick yards
there as a brick setter. In 1883 he came to Hobart and in 1886 he was
married to Miss Ida Melin. Five children were born to this union, 3
daughters and 2 sons, the sons having died early in life.
He is survived by his wife, and three daughters, Mabel, Frieda, and Ettie.
Funeral services will be conducted this (Friday) afternoon by Rev. John
E. Johnson of Chicago, at 2 o'clock at the house and 2:30 at the Swedish
M.E. Church. The services at the grave will be in charge of Earle Lodge,
I.O.O.F., of which order he was a member. The burial will be in the
Hobart cemetery.
