Leo H. Brucken, 79, of Havensville, KS, died Monday morning , August 28, 2006, at an Onaga care home.
He was born April 27, 1927, on a farm northwest of St. Benedict, the son of Edward A. and Thresia Sextro Brucken. He attended Bucks Grove School in Soldier and helped on the family farm. When he was 21 he went to work for Dart Trucking Company in Kansas City, MO where he worked for 35 years. He retired in 1983 and moved to Havensville in 1986,
On June 14, 1952, he married Agatha Hasenkamp at St. James Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1993. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Brucken on April 11, 2003 and Philip J. Brucken on July 2, 2006.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church at Corning.
Survivors are six sons, David of Warrensburg, MO, Keith of California, MO, Jerry of Wellington, MO, Paul and Jim, both of Havensville, and Steve of Beattie; a brother, Lawrence "Hap" Brucken of Soldier; two sisters, Mary Wessel of Topeka and Dorothy Benoit of St. Mary's; and four grandchildren.
Besides his wife and sons, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry, Albert, and Edwin.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 AM Friday at St. Patrick's Church at Corning. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A prayer service will be conducted at 7 PM Thursday at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca, where he will lie in state after 8:30 AM Thursday.
