He was a member of the Methodist church in Cherokee. he was married to Mary Howick at Cherokee on January 3, 1893. To this union eight children were born: Percy Lucas of Columbus; Myrtle Loagan of Ft. Scott; Graden Lucas of Columbus; Jessie Zimmerman of Columbus; Murrial Tharp of Yukon, Florida; Leona Rodden of Wichita; he was preceded in death by an infant daughter and son, Lloyd Lucas. He also leaves the widow, one sister, Mrs. Tom Fisher of Joplin; one brother, J.H. Lucas of Columbus; thirteen grandchildren and one great granddaughter, besides other relatives and many friends to mourn his loss.
Had he lived until the 3rd of next January the family would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mr. Lucas resigned the 1st of December as city marshal after having served for 13 1/2 years. He was truly a good man, and respected and loved by the whole town.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at 2;30 with Rev. J.B. Wright in charge. Burial will be in the Cherokee cemetery.

The Sentinel family extend sympathy. "X" as he was lovingly known to us all, did many a favor for us during the time he was on the police force. If we were late in getting out an edition "X" assisted us in getting it to the post office in time for an early delivery, etc.
