Services were held Apr. 20, 1995 for Fred Peters, who died Monday, Apr. 17, 1995 at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. Mr. Peters became a resident of Lennox Good Samaritan Center just seven days before he died after a lengthy illness. He attained the age of 86 years, six months and 19 days.

Fred Peters was born on a farm in Turner County, near Tea, SD, on Sep. 28, 1908, the son of George D. and Anna (Fischer) Peters. He attended Schoffelman school and grew to manhood in the Tea area.

On Oct. 19, 1934, he was united in marriage to Alice DeBoer in Tea, and they farmed in the Tea area after their marriage. In 1972, they retired and moved to Lennox, where he repaired lawn mowers an clocks for several years. His death ended a marriage of over 60 years.

His family was most important to him, and he also enjoyed gardening, fishing and working on old cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George D. and Anna Peters; three sisters: Frieda Peters, Anna Allison and Etta Saalborn; two brothers: George G. Peters and one brother in infancy.

Survivors include his widow, Alice; his four children and their spouses: Catherine and Harley Kuper of Sioux Falls, Alfred and Eunice Peters of Lennox, Roger and Vickie Peters of Sioux Falls, and Bette and Bill Carlson of St. Louis, MO.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. George (Marie) Snyder of Tea, Johanna Plucker and Helene Strasser, both of Chancellor; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
