Evelyn Mary Schwebach, 96 of Sioux City died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Remsen, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Mrs. Schwebach was born Feb 15, 1905, in Remsen, the daughter of Edward and Lena (Becker) Deubel. She graduated from St Mary's Catholic High School in Remsen, and attended the Nettleton Business Training School in Sioux City. She married John James Schwebach on September 19, 1933, in Remsen. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1942. She had been employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Sioux City at one time, and later worked for the local Younkers department Store. Her husband died March 18, 1961, in Sioux City. She was a member of St Boniface Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was involved in many charities and ministries. Survivors include two sons, Kieth Schwebach, and Donald Schwebach and his wife, Darlene, all of Sioux City: a daughter and her husband, Jeanne and Edward Oliver of Canton, S.D.; and six grandchildren, Tim Schwebach, Terri Hill, Tabatha "T.J" Schwebach, Kim Ober, Chris Oliver, and Vicki Hillmer. She also was preceded in death by twins at birth, and a sister, Patricia Wiltgen.
