Edward L. Deubel, 82, Well known and longtime resident of Remsen, died at Sacred Heart hospital, LeMars, Wednesday night following a heart attack suffered early Tuesday morning.
Mr. Deubel, living alone in an upstairs room in the N.F. Wandereshched building on Main street, became ill shortly after midnight Tuesday morning and was able to summon help. His doctor was called and the patient was removed immediately to the hospital where the end came at nine o'clock last night.
Born December 28, 1847 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Duebel had been a resident and excellent citizen of Remsen more then 60 years, working at various clerking positions all this time and for a time engaged at the painting trade. His last post of duty was with the Ed Bergin Tavern, where he worked and appeared to be his usual self until quitting work Monday night. He had not previously complained of sickness. He married Lena Becker of Remsen September 23, 1902. Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. John Schwebach of Sioux City and Mrs. Robert Wiltgen of Remsen; one sister, Mrs. Mayme Miller of Miami, Florida and one brother, Fred Deubel of St. Bernard, Ohio. Wake will be held at the Fisch funeral home Friday evening with the rosary at eight o'clock. Services will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock, with interment in St. Mary's cemetery.
