ROSE E. HOCHSTEIN
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, September 29 for Rose Eleanor Hochstein, 97, of Wynot. She passed away Wednesday, September 26 at the Cedars Nursing home. Rev. Wayne Schlautman officiated at the 10:30 a.m. service in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, under direction of the Wintz Funeral Home.
Born May 7, 1882 in Fordyce, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Becker) Schulte. She married John H. Hochstein on May 28, 1901 in Bow Valley, Ne. He passed away June 5, 1961. She was a lifetime resident of the Cedar County area. She belonged to the Christian Mothers.
Survivors include five sons, Lawrence, Randolph, Gilbert, Coleridge, Fritz, Wynot, John Jr., Wayne, Donald, Wynot; six daughters, Mrs. Ray (Viola) Lammers, Fordyce, Mrs. B. J. (Delores) Abbott, Hayward, CA., Mrs. Roman (Rosine) Pinkelman, Wynot, Mrs. Irvin (Ruth) Huennekens, Yankton, Mrs. Don (Freda) Hoss, Le Mars, Ia., Mrs. Ralph (Mary) Wieseler, Wynot; one sister, Mrs. Ida Arens, Hartington; 3 half sisters, Mrs. Erna Hoeschen, Newport, Oreg., Mrs. Joe Carrius, CA., Mrs. Mathilda Groman, Neceda, Wisc.; 70 grandchildren, 111 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one daughter, several brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Donavon Lammers, Reynold Hochstein, Larry Hochstein, Terrence Pinkelman, Mike Huennekens, and Dale Hochstein. Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Hubert Helmes, Mrs. Gus Helmes, Mrs. I. G. Helmes, Mrs. Wendell Marx, Mrs. Fred Wuebben, Mrs. Long Hochstein.
