Mrs. Rudolph Overschmidt, nee Theresa Klenke, was born in Clover Bottom, this county, January 15, 1887, and died at her home in Central Township on what is known as the Overschmidt place, on December 24, 1918 , at the age of 31 years, 11 months, and 9 days. The funeral was held on Saturday, December 28, from St. Mary's church in Union and interment of her remains was made in the Catholic cemetery in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and friends. Deceased was married to Rudolph Overschmidt, June 5, 1912, and with whom she lived happily until death called her to a better land. Her husband survives her to mourn her early taking away.
Mrs. August Overschmidt, nee Leonilda Klenke, was born in Clover Bottom, this county, February 10, 1888, and died at her home in Central Township on what is known as the Overschmidt place, December 28, 1918, at the age of 30 years, 10 months and 18 days. The funeral was held Monday, December 30, from St. Mary's church in Union and interment was made in the Catholic cemetery in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and friends. Deceased was married to August Overschmidt, May 25, 1910 and with whom she lived happily until death called her to a better land. When the time of her departure came she called to her bedside, her five children and husband and told them all an affectionate farewell and told her husband to be good to them and to protect them. This we know he will do.
Aside from husband and children, these sisters also leave to mourn their demise, their aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Klenke, four brothers and six sisters. The brothers are Frank, George, Aloysius and Fred. The sisters are Adelle, mamie, Julia ( Mrs. Hy. Vondera), Nettie, Rosa and Katie. Other relatives and many friends mourn the loss of the Klenke sisters.
Thus briefly is told the life history of these young women, who grew to womanhood and Christian graces on their home place near Unionwith their parents. Marriage did not separate them because the two brothers and two sisters lived on the same farm and in the same house and lived there as one happy family. All was happy, all was pleasant, until the grim reaper, death, entered the home and plucked from it the fairest flowers. Hard indeed is it to realize what all this means. The taking of life so young , so useful and filled with heavenly graces is not so easily understood; but the good Christian knows that God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts and God's ways are better than our ways , and it was God who in his infinite wisdom saw fit to call these two sisters to a higher and better life above, a place where there is no sorrow and where death is not. The sorely bereaved have the sympathy of the entire community.
