He is survived by his wife,Mrs. Margaret Habermann Fees, to whom he was married on January 18, 1888; three sons, George H. of Sullivan; Edwin and John of Union; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Klenke and Mrs. Frances Klenke of Union, and Mrs. James Conley of Robertsville; sixteen grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Paul Fluckinger, of Union.
Mr. Fees was the son of Jacob Fees, who was born in Kinzigan, Baden, Germany, and came to the United States in 1837, living in Franklin County for half a century. Mr. Fees himself, lived his entire life in this community and was one of Franklin County's substantial farmers. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Union and helped to build the new church building and the Immaculate Conception School. He was a member of the St. Joseph's Society.
Members of the American Legion came in a body to the Fees home Monday evening to pay their respects to the sons, Edwin and John, who are members of Union Post 297 and to their bereaved mother.
Funeral services were held at the Immaculate Conception Church, Wednesday morning, March 7 at 8:30 o'clock, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
A number of friends and relatives from out of town attended the funeral services ; Misses Helen and Wilhelmina Klenke and Mrs. Flora Hammer of St. Louis, Otto Schuster and other relatives from Pacific, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Strothmann and son, Herman, and D.M. Conley of Robertsville, Mrs. Phillip Appril, Mrs. Theresa Ebberle and Henry and Herman Duffner from Hermann, Mo.
