Clarence Alfred Yingst, 72, formerly of Buhl, passed away Friday, January 21, 2005, at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.
Clarence was born August 2, 1932, the youngest of four children born to Logan A. and Flara (Walden) Yingst in Huntsville, Ark. He graduated from Buhl High School in 1952. In 1953, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving four years of active duty and four years in the Navy Reserves. Clarence and Myrna Brewer were married July 13, 1954, and they had two daughters, Tammy and Terri.
Clarence was a police officer in Buhl and Twin Falls, and later served as police chief in Jerome. In April of 1969, the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he worked for O'Neil Investigations. After returning to Buhl in 1987, he worked for Clear Springs Trout Farm. Clarence loved being outdoors. He truly enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and cutting wood. Clarence took pride in following the events surrounding each of his grandchildren's lives.
Surviving Clarence is his wife of 50 years, Myrna; daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Head, and grandsons, David and Kyle, all of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Terri (Kevin) Shinn, and granddaughters, Heather and Nicole, all of Snohomish, Wash.; sister, Irene McRoberts, and brother, Freeman Yingst, both of Buhl; four nieces; and a nephew. Preceding Clarence in death were his parents and one brother, Olnie Yingst.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho, with Pastor Mike Zierenberg officiating. Casket bearers will be Jeff Head, David Head, Gary Hawkins, George Juker, Sidney Wing and Max Yingst. A visitation forfriends and family will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at the funeral home.
