Mrs. Katherine Hatke, nee Gerdes, aged 69 years, died Thursday August 27, 1931 at the home of her son, Ferd Hatke, northeast of Effingham where she has made her home since the death of her husband. Death was due to a complication of diseases.
Mrs. Hatke was first married to John Hoelscher of Teutopolis. To this union four children were born, Ben Hoelscher of Effingham, (Katherine) Mrs. Henry Doedtmann of Green Creek, (Elizabeth) Mrs. Geo. Hille of Effingham, Henry Hoelscher at home. After the death of her husband deceased was then married to William Hatke and three children were born, Ferd and Tony Hatke, Effingham, (Clara) Mrs. Ed Willenborg of Green Creek. The deceased is also survived by several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Anthony's Church, Effingham. Interment followed in the St. Anthony cemetery.
