Martin M. Rutz, 92-year-old resident of Flensburg, MN died February 14 at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN with Rev. Leo Moenkedick officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Tuesday at the Emblom-Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls, MN and from 9-10 AM on Wednesday at the church in Flensburg, MN.
Parish Prayers will be said at 5:30 PM on Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
Martin was born July 20, 1916, on a farm near Flensburg, MN to the late Joseph and Anna (Wielinski) Rutz. He attended school in Flensburg, MN. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Kulus on September 22, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN. He served for four years in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic. His tour of duty took him to New Guinea, the Netherlands, East Indies, the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan. He was awarded three Bronze Stars. After the service, he became a carpenter and worked for himself the next 40 years in the Little Falls area building many homes. Martin enjoyed nature and the outdoors, reading, gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends.
