Sister Everetta Degenhardt, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Mount St. Scholastica.

Evelyn Anna, one of three children of John and Anna Haller Degenhardt was born Nov.19, 1916, in Alma, Kansas, where she received her early education. She joined the Benedictine Sisters in 1935 and made her monastic profession in 1937. She later received a baccalaureate degree from Mount St. Scholastica College and a master's degree in education from the University of Detroit, Detroit, Mich.

During her teaching career of 45 years she taught in schools staffed by the Benedictine Sisters in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Iowa. At Salisbury and Wien, Missouri, and at Nortonville, Kansas, and Portsmouth, Iowa, she served as principal. When she retired from formal teaching, she was receptionist, secretary, and assistant librarian at Bishop LeBlond High School, St. Joseph, Missouri; and later a receptionist for Benedictine College. She then engaged in varied services at the Mount as long as her health permitted. Sister Everetta was preceded in death by two brothers, one of whom, Everett, was her twin. She is survived by one sister, Frances Moore of Topeka.
