Theodor/Theodore F. (= Ferdinand) LANGE was born in Exin, Kreis Schubin, Province of Posen, Germany [today: Kcynia, Poland] on May 28, 1879.

Together with his parents and his two younger brothers Otto and Paul, he had emigrated to the USA in 1887 on board the NDL ("Norddeutsche Lloyd") steamship "Ems". After finishing high school in Springfield, MA, he studied civil engineering at MIT in Cambridge, MA and graduated in 1901 (B.A.).

As a "civil engineer" he later worked for the "steam railroad" in New York (probably the "New York Central & Hudson River Railroad" as he was living at East 138th Street in the Bronx). During the First World War Theodor LANGE was employed by the U.S. government and worked as "Assistant Manager Construction" in Nitro, Kanawha County, WV, site of the huge "U.S. Explosive Plant".

After the war he settled in nearby Charleston, WV (1590 Jackson Street), moving to Miami, FL at the beginning of the 1930s (842 NW 21st Terrace). He returned to Springfield, MA at the outbreak of World War II and lived together with his brother Otto.

Theodor LANGE never married and died in Springfield on September 8, 1949.
