ARTHUR C. WERLING, 94, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Woodview Health-care. Born in New Haven, he was the son of the late, Henry and Anna Werling. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he was an organist, choir director and youth director. He had been a longtime member of Fort Wayne Choral Society and Social Ministries Chairman. He retired in 1980 as a teacher after 42 years. He is survived by his children, Lennis Scheiman of Fort Wayne, James (Kathleen) Werling of Portland, Ore. and Ellen (Robert) Young of Fort Wayne; six granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edna Werling, in 2004; five brothers; and two sisters. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Donald Nord officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial in the church cemetery.
