Dorothy M. Ziemann, 61, Park Rapids, died Saturday March 7, 1998, in St. Joseph's Area Health Services, Park Rapids.
Dorothy M. Gustafson was born Nov. 16, 1936, in FIngal N.D., where she grew up and attended school. She also attended school in Detroit Lakes Minn. On July 2, 1955, she married Edward Ziemann in Detroit Lakes. They lived in Detroit Lakes and Fergus Falls, Minn. before moving to Park Rapids in 1959.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, David, Mankato, Minn., Tim, Park Rapids, two daughters, Jody Ziemann ( Neil King), Park Rapids, Jamie (Mark Jokela), Watford City, N.D.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation: Tonight from 5 to 7 in Cease Famil Funeral Home , Park Rapids. Funeral: Tuesday at 2 in Calvary Lutheran Church, Park Rapids. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery Park Rapids.

Dorothy was born on November 16, 1936 on the family farm in Fingal North Dakota the daughter of George and Alice (Deighton) Gustafson. She grew up in Fingal where she attended school. She moved to Detroit Lakes, M.N. in 1949 where she continued attending school and graduated in 1954. She was united in marriage to Edward Ziemann on July 2, 1955, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. They lived in Detroit Lakes and Fergus Falls for two years each before moving to Park Rapids in 1959, where she has resided since. She was a member of the Mrs. Jaycees in Park Rapids, a volunteer for the PEP Math program in kindergarten for 16 years at Frank White School. she was also a Bethel Bible Series teacher, Sunday school teacher, and circle member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Was an avid reader and a caregiver to her husband, grand kids and family. She loved music and the arts.
She is survived by her husband - Edward W. Ziemann of Park Rapids, MN., children - Jody Ziemann and Neil King of Park Rapids, MN. Jamie. ( Mark) Jokela of Watford, North Dakota; David Ziemann and Denise Jenkauski of Mankato, Minnesota; Tim Ziemann of Park Rapids, MN; 4 grandchildren, Zachariah and Sibinee Jokela, Watford City, ND.; Alex Ziemann, Bloomington, Mn.; surrogate John Weidern and family of Park Rapids, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Jim, a sister Mary, and a sister in law Lou. She lives on in what she taught us through her loving, strength and thankfulness. She reminds us still, to have serenity to accept what we can't change, courage what we can and wisdom to know the difference.

Dorothy was a lovely singer. She can be rembered to have sung and taught the lullaby song to all the family babies. She tucked the children in snugly with hugs and kisses every night. Her meals were always served at the kitchen table.Picnic baskets were packed for children to enjoy while fishing and swimming.
