Henry Hinther at End of the Trail
Henry Hinther, resident of what is now Garfield county since 1916, passed away at the local hospital Saturday following a long illness. He had been a patient at the hospital since Dec 26, 1944. He celebrated his 83rd birthday last January 4th. In early life Mr Hinther learned the shoemaker's trade. In those days he took a roll of leather and his tools with him as he went from house to house making shoes for members of the family. He came to America in 1891, to Montana in 1914. Greatly disappointed because he could not file on a Montana homestead, he resumed his trade as cobbler. He made boots for the cowboys in that early period and took great pride in his workmanship. Burial was in the Hinther cemetery. Mr Hinther's wife who died in 1934 is also buried there.
