Carl Uphoff, 61, of 4209 Esch Lane, formerly with the Madison Police Department, died Wednesday, (Jan. 28, 1970) in a Madison hospital after a long illness.
Born in Cottage Grove, he joined the police force on Feb. 1, 1931, and retired in 1954 after 23 years of service.
Mr. Uphoff worked primarily in the Patrol Bureau as an officer and sergeant. He was appointed special investigator Jan. 1, 1950, and patrol sergeant the following July.
After retiring from the force, Mr. Uphoff was employed as a courier at Wisconsin Power and Light Co.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Schroeder Funeral Home, 3325 E.Washington Ave.
