Edith F. Spencer, age 95, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 1990 at Methodist Health Center, 334 West Doty Street. She was born on June 8, 1895 in Cottage Grove. The former Edith Uphoff was married to Francis R. Spencer on December 22, 1914 in Cottage Grove. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Wyla) Horstmeyer and Mrs. Robert (Letty) Skuldt, both of Madison; two sons, Dever Spencer of Chapala, Mexico and Duane Spencer of Centuria, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; 12great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a brother, Myron Uphoff of Miami, Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Gladys) Cass of Sun City, AZ and Mrs. Eleanor Clements of Allentown, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, on May 9, 1974; and three brothers, Dr. Robert Uphoff, Ralph Uphoff, and Leonard Uphoff. Funeral services will be held at the Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Rd at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July17, 1990. The Reverend Stanley Klyve will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
