William E. Uffelman, 100, of Hoagland, died Friday at
Lutheran Homes, Inc. in Fort Wayne. He retired in 1966 as a
Lutheran Parochial School teacher after 50 years of service.
He also was a substitute teacher and a principal and teacher
at St. John Lutheran Church. His wife, Lydia A., died in 1985.
Surviving are sons, Herbert W. of Fort Wayne and Lester R.
of Decatur; 10 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 am Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church,
Bingen. Calling is from 10 am to 1 pm Sunday and from 4 to 8
pm Monday at Zwick-Sefton & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur;
calling also one hour before services at the church. Burial will
be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen.
Memorials are to the church, Concordia College, Lutheran
Homes or charity.
