Clara C. Meiselwitz, 90, a former Kiel resident, died Sunday afternoon, December 16, at the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein, where she had been a resident for the past 10 years.
She was born on April 7, 1900, in Kiel, a daughter of the late Adolph F. and Louise Berg Meiselwitz. She was a 1917 graduate of Kiel High School. She received her bachelors degree in physical education in 1920 from LaCrosse Normal School. In 1925, she graduated from Milwaukee County School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse and was employed as a visiting nurse in Milwaukee and later at Milwaukee County Hospital and then was a nurse's supervisor at Milwaukee Emergency Hospital. She also taught nursing at Milwaukee County Hospital. She retired in 1943 and moved to the Town of Rhine where she farmed with her parents. In 1963, she moved to Kiel with her brother, Wilfred and her sister, Romilda. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel, and the church's Women's Guild.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Ella Meiselwitz, Kiel; Mary Meiselwitz, a resident of the Calumet Homestead, New Holstein; and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Kiel Cemetery.
