She was born June 3, 1927, in Love, Virginia, a daughter of the late Mack M. and Allie Henderson Hewitt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Franklin L. Patterson on March 3, 2009; and her two former husbands, James M. Johnson and Sherman Quick; a son, Thomas E. Quick; three sisters, Elizabeth "Libby" Truslow, Charlotte H. Quick and Margie H. Huffor; and five brothers, Carl, Emanuel, Ralph, Guy, and Mack Jr. Hewitt.
She is survived by a son, Daniel W. Quick and his wife, Linda H. Quick, who had provided companionship and care for her during her long illness; a daughter-in-law, Sandra K. Quick; and a step-son, Robert F. Patterson, both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Dot Lisenbee of Raleigh, North Carolina and Betty Campbell of Lyndhurst; three granddaughters, Jenny Quick Greathouse of Walton, West Virginia, Dana Q. Hatcher of Florida, and Amy Quick of Waynesboro, Virginia; four step grandchildren, Vickie Clemmons of Waynesboro, Lisa Coffey of Fishersville, Wendy Towler of Stuarts Draft and Tony Helmick of Columbia, Maryland ; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Colin Greathouse and Kelsey Quick; 11 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her family.
The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911, who helped provide comfort and care for Beulah and her family.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Hillsboro Baptist Church in Yancey Mills, Virginia, with Dr. Alan Thompson officiating.
Family will greet friends one half-hour prior to the service at the church and can call at the Crozet home anytime.
Anderson Funeral Home of Crozet is in charge of arrangements.
