Mary Pauline Weitzel, 91, of Oak Harbor passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, in her sunroom at her residence with her family at her side. She was born Jan. 12, 1919, in Iliff, Colo. to Lorenze and Mary (Lambrecht) Holman.


On June 12, 1933, in North Platte, Neb., she married Robert Weitzel and he preceded her in death Dec. 4, 2007.


She worked as a homemaker and also at Philco and Standard Products. Mary was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. She loved spending time with her family, especially the little children. Mary enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, baking and cake decorating. She also enjoyed exercising in the school pool, antiquing and shopping.


Mary is survive by her loving family: Children, Geneva (George) Tibbetts of Largo, Fla., Richard (Daisy) Weitzel of Rocky Ridge, Ohio, Nancy Felice of Rochester, N.Y., JoAnn (Donald) Humphrey of Castalia and Gerri (C.J.) Smith of Perrysburg, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Clarence "Bud") Palmer of Rocky Ridge and Catherine Spinks of Denver; and many nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and several brothers and sisters.


Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor, with a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m. and where prayers will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.


Memorial contributions may be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, or Hospice of Memorial Hospital, Clyde.
