PHILLIP POPE DIES AT HIS HOME

Phillip Pope, 71, father of Dennis L. Pope, former county attorney of Garfield county, died of a heart attack at his home two miles north of Enid about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He had not been in the best of health for several weeks, but his death was unexpected. He was rushed to an Enid hospital by ambulance after suffering the heart attack, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

He was a member of the Lutheran church, and had lived most of his life in Oklahoma. He came to Enid 45 years ago, and had resided in this area since.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Henninger-Allen funeral home chapel. The Rev. A. Meitler will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Leon, and a daughter, Carolyn, of the home; another son, Dennis L. Pope of Enid; two daughters, Mrs. John P. Laughlin, San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. William C. Heath, Burbank, Calif.; three brothers, A. W. Pope of Oklahoma City; A. J. Pope, of Enid, and Herbert Pope of Wichita, Kans.; five sisters, Mrs. Art McDonald, Ringwood; Mrs. Otto Scheffe, Enid; Mrs. Simon Wyatt, Garber; Mrs. Harlow Southwick, Whittier Calif., and Mrs. Kenneth Chitwood, Garber; and a niece, Mrs. Alma Blaser of Enid. Twelve grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews also survive.
