Everett was in the Marine Reserves while attending college in North Carolina, when he received orders for Vietnam.
Arriving in Vietnam, Everett was assigned to VMCJ-1, MAG-11, 1st Marine Air Wing. He was the co-pilot of a Hobson EF-10B #127041 that was hit by a hostile missile west of Nghia Hung, North Vietnam. Everett ejected but the parachute did not deploy. The Hobson crashed and a search was conducted. No bodies were recovered and Everett was declared dead 12 August 1974.
1st Lt McPherson was promoted to Major while listed as Missing in Action.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his parents, Everett S and Theresa Martha McPherson of Florida, and his 2 brothers; Raymond Alan McPherson (serving with in the US Navy) and R.G. and 5 sisters; Darlene, Sandra, Mary Lou, Fay and Kay.
