Charles P. Aylsworth
Casper - Services for Charles P. Aylsworth, 81, who died on March 8, 1989, at Wyoming Medical Center after a long illness, will be Monday at 9 a.m. at Bustard Funeral Home, with Dr. Bryant Badger of First Christian Church officiating.
Mr. Aylsworth was born on Oct. 18, 1907, in Omaha, Neb. In 1918, the family moved to Hudson and later to Bonneville. He attended school in Shoshoni, graduating from Shoshoni High School in 1925.
Following graduation, he worked for the Burlington Railroad for a time as a section laborer and foreman. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Europe at Arrowhead and Normandy Beach. He received many citations including five Battle Stars, the Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
After his discharge, Mr. Aylsworth returned to Wyoming and worked for a short time for Burlington Railroad. In 1947, he was employed as a pipefitter for Texaco Refinery in Casper, retiring in 1972.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Eagles Lodge Aerie No. 306, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 991, all of Casper.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Myrtle) Oswalt and Inez Penn, both of Casper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with military rites accorded by the United Veterans Council. Flowers or memorials to the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center would be equally appreciated.
