Petra Christine "Amy" Nielsen Bulla

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

April 2, 1916 – January 16, 1967

Petra Christine was called Amy. Her parents Peter Christian and Ane Kristense Nielsen, were born in Denmark and immigrated to this country in 1912 as a young married couple. They joined Danish relatives in Portland and shortly after moved to Prosser, Washington Where Peter worked in a dairy. Amy's father Peter died suddenly at a hospital in Yakima, Washington, just 17 days prior to Amy's birth.

Her mother Ane, now a widow with 3 young children to raise, moved back to Portland to join other Nielsen families. Ane and her 3 children moved to Florida where other Nielsen families lived but when Amy's two older siblings Ellen and Fie were ready to start school, their mother took them back to Denmark to live with relatives and finish their schooling. She then returned to Portland where she had left little Amy to stay with relatives until her return, as she needed to find a way to support herself and Amy.

Amy was married first to Andrew W. Sparks and they had two daughters. Her second husband was Dan Kienow, a grocer in the Portland area. After their divorce, Amy married her third husband Paul Marion Bulla.
