Esther (Maler) Schneider Gallagher was born to Conrad Maler and Anna Boi Maler on September 17, 1909, at Chicago, Il., and passed away August 9, 1992, at York General Hospital in York, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 22 days. She was one of two children in the family.
Esther attended District 28 grade school in Fairmont to the eight grade. She lived in Fairmont from 1929 until 1970. She then moved to Lincoln and lived there from 1970 until 1980. She then moved to the Hearthstone Nursing Home in York.
Esther was married to Ernest F. Schneider of Fairmont on June 16, 1929, and to them five children were born. She was a member of the United Methodist Church while she was in Fairmont, until she started to attend the Lutheran Church in Cordova.
Esther was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Schneider and William Gallagher, and son, Gary Schneider.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Harold (Hazel) Folts of Lake Tahoe, Ca.; sons, Arlen Schneider of Lincoln, Marvin Schneider of Blue Hill and Dale Schneider of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Wednesday, August 12, 1992, with the Rev. Lyle Sass officiating. Music selections were "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art."
Pallbearers were grandsons, Mark Schneider, Barry Schneider, Corwin Schneider, Joey Schneider, Marvin Schneider Jr. and Roger Marquardt. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
