He was born December 25, 1938 in Osgood, OH, son of the late William J. & Emily (Holthaus) Brackman. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Marion Manor, and was retired Director of Information Systems with the A.O. Smith Corporation. Preceded in death by 1 brother, Donald, Gene is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Rammel); son, Kirk & wife, Jan Brackman of Vandalia; daughter, Angi & husband, Chris Coning of Tipp City; 6 grandchildren, Jason Bruns, Ben, Kevin & Craig Brackman, Ladia and Max Coning; 3 sisters, Pauline & husband, Jim Barga, Norma Purcell & husband, Don, and Janice Dirksen & husband, Delbert; 2 brothers, Vernon Brackman & wife, Ruth and Paul Brackman & wife, Val; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 21 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia with Fr. Francis Keferl officiating. Burial to follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia on Sunday from 4-7 pm.
