Death of Gustav A. Pfiffner
On Monday morning, Oct. 30, 1916, at 10:45 o'clock at his home in this city occured the death of Gustav A. Pfiffner, after a lingering illness, and at the age of 56 years, 2 months and 21 days. Deceased was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, on August 9, 1860, and lived here during his entire life. On February 9, 1885, he was married at Guttenberg to Miss Augusta Thaman. He was a kind and true husband, father, brother and friend, and was an ambitious man during his entire life, and was held in high regard by all who knew him. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for him to ward off death, but all to no avail. In the death of Mr. Pfiffner this community loses one of its most worthy citizens. His death is deeply mourned by 12 children, namely Alfred A., of Guttenberg, Edmund G., of Jefferson township, Wiliam A., Raymond B. and Joseph H., of Waterloo, Iowa, Delphines, Cyril J., Leo A., Roman O., Francis G., Regina L. and Marie H., all at home, 2 sisters, Mrs. Fred Erhardt, of this city, and Mrs. George Kloser, of Cassville, Wis., and a large number of other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in this city, of which deceased was a faithful member, on Friday morning, November 3, 1916, at 9 o'clock. Rev. J. H. Brickman will conduct funeral services. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Deceased was also a member of the R. G. M. P. S. and the Sacred Heart Sick Benefit Societies, the members of which will attend the funeral in body.
