Edgar Ralph Koenig son of Jacob and Margaret (Carl) Koenig, was born January 16, 1909 on the family homestead North of Robinson. Edgar helped out on the family farm for a number of years and attended North Merkel Township schools . He then enlisted in the CCC and was stationed at Mandan and in Nebraska. On May 6, 1937 he married Marjorie May Peyer at Steele, ND. They farmed in Robinson for a few years, then moved to Lake Williams, ND. Edgar, Marjorie and their first 3 children, Larry, Glenda and Kay, moved to Washington for a few years, where Edgar worked as a welder in the shipyards. Their fourth child Neil was born in Everett, Washington. Edgar and family moved back to Robinson and bought a farm 11 miles North of Robinson, where their fifth child, Douglas (Doug) was born.
Edgar had also worked in the Lead and Silver mines in Idaho for a short time.
Three years later, Mrs. Koenig passed away of Stomach Cancer, leaving Edgar with two young boys to raise, with the help of two teenage daughters. Edgar and Doug moved to the town of Robinson in 1969, and bought the Harold Brown House. Edgar's brother James Koenig lived with them also.
Edgar and his brother Jim lived together for a number of years and looked forward to their many visits from family and friends.
Edgar passed away on September 19, 1980 of Lung Cancer at Hi Acres Manor Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND.
The funeral arrangements were handled by Eddy Funeral Home, of Jamestown, ND, and the funeral was held at the United Methodist Church, Robinson, ND, with the Rev. Clarence Schaffer officiating.
