Marcial Miller Succumbs Friday At Egan Home – Last rites were to be held in Iota at the St. Joseph’s Catholic church this morning for Marcial Miller, 76, retired rice farmer of the Egan community, who died Friday at 8:15 a.m. at his home after an illness of 15 days. Burial was to follow in the church cemetery in Iota. Mr. Miller was born on Oct. 10, 1874 in Iota, and lived all his life in Acadia parish. Survivors include his wife, Amelia Leger Miller; 6 sons, Martin of Evangeline, M.O. of Rayne, Morris of Iota, Joseph C. of Egan, John of Merryville, and Placide Miller of Jennings; two daughters, Mrs. Eldridge Comeaux and Mrs. Walter Comeaux of Jennings; three brothers, Eraste of Opelousas, Fremon of Ville Platte, Hebrard of Chatangnier and a sister, Mrs. Marie Verett of Opelousas. Several grandchildren and great grand-children also survive. The Geesey-Ferguson Funeral home of Crowley conducted burial arrangements.
