John Miller IOTA - Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church for John Miller, 88, who died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m. at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss. Fr. Byron Miller, grandson of Mr. Miller, and Fr. David Broussard will officiate for the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota. Visitation will be observed Thursday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris M. Raynes of Oakdale, Miss and Betty M. Cure of Buras; two sons, John C. Miller of Crowley and James Lee Miller of Egan; one brother, Joseph C. Miller of Egan; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marcial (Amelia Leger) Miller; his wife, Rita Simar Miller; one son, Guarry Miller; two grandchildren, Elaine Polk and Ray Miller, and one great grandchild, Joshua Scanlan.
Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the U.S. Navy. Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home, 509 Duson Ave., Iota, is in charge of arrangements.
