Obituary: Teotoplols Press - March 19, 1953

Herman Nicholas Westendorf, 68, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Westendorf, pioneers of Bishop Township, passed away suddenly, at 1:24 PM Sunday, every 15, 1953, at the home of Mrs. Mary Hardin while eating dinner. Death was due to a heart attack

Herman was born in Bishop Township and spent his entire life in the Township and Dieterich, where at the time of his death was the millman for the J M Schultz seed company and had been for several years. He was efficient and faithful in his work.

He was united in marriage with Anna Niendick, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Niendick. To this union seven children were born. Surviving are his wife, Anna Westendorf, two sons, Wilson Westendorf of Dieterich and James Manford Westendorf of Washington Courthouse Ohio; five daughters, Ruth Groethius of Dieterich, Myrtle Bybee of Cincinnati Ohio, Esther Hunter of Hallandale Florida, Flora Johnson Carlinville Illinois and Reatha Willett, Cincinnati Ohio: one brother, Gust Westendorf, Kelso Washington; three sisters, Anna Dust, Bishop, Mary Pruemer, Teutopolis and Mary Verdeyen, Gary Indiana; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild

Funeral services were conducted at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church indeed we get 9 AM Tuesday with burial in the parish Cemetery. Rev. I Will, the pastor officiated with Wright Funeral Service in charge.
