John T. Schulz, 85, 818 Lindenwood, died today at a local hospital.

He was born Aug. 1, 1894, in Phillips County. He moved to Topeka in 1922.

Mr. Schulz was a self-employed carpenter and builder.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was married to Dorothy Anschutz, who died May 25, 1952. He later was married Jan. 24, 1953, at Topeka, to Martha Berge, who survives at home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Wachs, 4318 W. 38th Ter., Mrs. Evelyn Gehrt, 811 Medford, Mrs. Ruth Grau, 810 Medford, and Mrs. Katherine Deterding, Kansas City; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Valerie Birrenkott, Madison, Wis.; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Anschutz, Prairie View; a brother, E. C. Schulz, Pendleton, Ore.; 15 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Schulz will lie in state at the Newcomer-Diffenderfer Funeral Home after noon, Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethesda Lutheran Home in care of St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 Fillmore, Topeka.
